The Parable of Waze

Waze is a Navigation app that many of us have on our phone. And yes, I have spoken about navigation apps and compasses and all things directional in the past, so what makes this parable different?

Waze, like every other GPS system requires that you plug in your final destination. Then, using quick calculations (quicker than i ever could with a paper map) it will route your path and tell you how to get there.

Sounds strangely familiar, doesn't it?

We are all pre-ordained (or to continue the analogy) pre-loaded with our final destination before we even start our journey. Many believe that we as souls choose our parents and our upbringing as part of our soul journey. I believe that. I believe that we are required to do two things in life: learn as much as we can and love as deeply as we can. So, back to Waze...

What happens if you take a wrong turn on your journey in a vehicle? In just a few moments of time, Waze has recalculated your path for you. It could be a wild diversion, but if you follow the path again, you will get to your final destination.

Even if you take complete detours, or appear to go off the beaten path, Waze will steadfastedly remind you that it is recalculating to get you to your final destination.

And the same can be said of our path. Some people lose their way. Some of us take wild turns. Regardless, we all end up exactly where we are supposed to be. As you read this, you might think that your path is skewed or the GPS is broken. Just breathe, keep your hands on the wheel and remain steadfast in your journey. You were meant to take that detour. You were meant to miss that turn. And the best part is that no matter what we do, we will all end up exactly where we needed to be - our final destination.
