The Parable of the Oxygen Mask

During the pre-flight checklist, there is a safety demonstration. The exact wording is “In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, oxygen masks will automatically descend from the ceiling. Grab the mask, and place it over your face. Breathe normally. If you have small children travelling with you, secure your mask before assisting with theirs”.

If you change the order of this and place an oxygen mask on a child or forget to breathe normally, bad things will happen.

The same thing happens outside of the plane and in real life. If we do not learn to breathe, if we keep putting others oxygen masks on before ours and if we don’t slow down – bad things will happen.

So take a minute to stop. Breathe. Put your oxygen mask on first. Take care of you so that you can be the very best you for others.
