The Parable of Yellowstone

One of my all-time favorite shows right now has to be Yellowstone, with Kevin Costner at the helm. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re seriously missing out.

We’re in the fifth and final season, and the last few episodes are dropping in November.

The thing about Yellowstone, though, is that the first few episodes are a bit of a slow burn. They really dive deep into character development and setting the stage, which is all thanks to Taylor Sheridan’s writing style.

I’ve caught myself telling anyone who will listen that they have to watch Yellowstone, but I always give the same advice: just make it through the first three episodes. It gets so much better after that. And almost every time, people stick with it and later rave about how incredible the show is.

It’s funny, though, because we’ll sit through a few slow episodes, trusting a recommendation that it’ll get better—but when it comes to our own personal goals, like weight loss, eating right, finding the right partner, or even hitting our financial targets, we’re often too quick to give up if we don’t see instant results.

Maybe we should approach our goals like Yellowstone. Let the story unfold, even if it starts slow, and give it time before switching channels.
